Women Underway Zoom!
I’m hosting a class for Women Underway at Herrington Harbor Sailing Association. They asked me to come up with something that could help get lady sailors through the long winter, but no hard skills since it’ll just make everyone itchy to go get on their frozen boat. I thought about it and realized that when I’m feeling frosty, I plan vacations in warmer parts of the world. Not just any vacations, but sailing vacations!!
Why would someone whose job is sailing want to go sailing on vacation?! Well, if you’re reading this, you probably already know the answer: Because it’s the BEST! But there’s more to it than that.
When I’m a captain, my priority is the immaculate care of the vessel, crew and guests, and my uniform is always in tip-top shape. The checklists are long and the stakes are high when I’m being paid to float boats, but a lot of that goes out the window when it’s my time to have fun and float around.
So the class is about how to do the bare minimum to have a safe and fun time.
