Boat Show Painkiller

Painkiller - Boat Show Drink

Boat Show Painkiller

The boat show got canceled this year, I’m going to need a level 4….

If you’ve ever been to the Annapolis Boat Show, you’ve probably noticed people walking around with a small tin mug of goodness. It’s called a “Painkiller,” and it’s a favorite of mine, especially when I’m in pain, and with Boat Show being Canceled this year, I’m in A LOT of PAIN!!!

Drowning my pain with a level 3

So I’ve ordered a level 3. That means they fit three Ounces of Rum into this lovely “painkiller club” tin mug, and then still felt a bit hurt because there were no boats to ogle so I ordered another one. I don’t remember much else, but my husband tells me that my whimpering stopped and I started talking about buying nutmeg and watching videos of boats at home, because I could make my own painkillers!

Here’s the recipe:

  • 2-4 ounces of Pusser’s Rum (You can use other dark rums if you’re in a pinch)
  • 4-ounces (120 ml) pineapple juice
  • 1-ounce (30 ml) orange juice
  • 1-ounce (30 ml) cream of coconut (This can be a tricky one to find; check the “ethnic food” section)
  • Freshly grated nutmeg

Shake the shit out of it with some ice. Garnish this beauty with a maraschino cherry and an orange slice then pour it in a tin mug and drink until it stops hurting.

I’m going to add something controversial… you can serve this drink hot! If you want it hot, mix everything but the rum in a pot and heat it up, then pour that into a mug with the rum. It’s great if your stuck in a chilly anchorage.
